I was first licensed
as a Novice while attending
high school in Cleburne, Texas.
Weeks later, I passed the General Class license (1952). I've worked
most of the ham bands from 160m to 1.2 GHz, including 222 and 900 MHz. I
enjoy operating many digital-modes using a computer sound-card interface. I
also enjoy the challenge of working Satellites! I take pride in my
"First Day Contact" certificate using OSCAR-13. (I remember the thrill of "flying by the
seat of my pants," while making that first contact on AO-13.) I've enjoyed teaching Ham Radio classes for over 35 years, and have served
as an Elmer to others by helping
solve technical problems. I've been involved with Emergency
Communications (EMCOMM) and RACES, serving as District Radio Officer. I've completed 91 FEMA
Training Courses in Emergency Management related subjects, and 178 Meteorology Courses (in
Weather), from MetEd. I retired from
teaching college in 1996 (EET). =≡= I've observed many changes in Ham Radio over the past
56 years, and hope to
continue enjoying Amateur Radio in my years ahead.
